Gippsland Ports have played host to the Gippsland Lakes Classic Boat Club, and provided a ships tour of their new pride and joy the “Tommy Norton” dredge.

The Tommy Norton operates at Lakes Entrance keeping the sand bar at bay for both commercial and recreational boating. Our tour host was David Holding who demonstrated a considerable knowledge of the ship’s operation and dredging processes as a whole.

In total there were two tour groups of GLCBC members who inspected the ship’s bridge, engine rooms, galley and pump rooms. Every mechanical and operational aspect of this hi-tech vessel was clearly explained and all members found the tour very interesting and educational.

The Gippsland Lakes Classic Boat Club would like to extend our warm thanks to both Gippsland Ports and David Holding for their generosity and time; in addition a special thanks to Ivan Knight for organizing and liaising with all parties involved, it was a fantastic day out.
