Ships inspection HMAS Choules February 2019 Hobart

A small number of GLCBC members were treated to an extra special opportunity whilst attending the 2019 My State Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart.

As chance would take it, the 16000 tonne, 176 Metre HMAS Choules was in town delivering the veteran 1922 Sydney to Hobart yacht race boat Mistral II into Hobart for display before undergoing a full refurbishment. A last minute phone call from the HMAS Choules to the GLCBC resulted in a one in a lifetime opportunity to engage in a one-on-one personalized ships tour inspecting all aspects of this operational Navy vessel.

The GLCBC would like to extend our appreciation to the crew of the HMAS Choules for accommodating our members who arrived in Hobart well ahead of the My State Wooden Boat Festival.
