The committee of the Gippsland Lakes Classic Boat Club would like to thank all involved and those who supported and attended the community fundraiser for the restoration of the PS Curlip on Saturday the 1st of April at the Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club.

The organizers of the event were absolutely overwhelmed by the strong community support for this well worthwhile event. In total there were 110 guests who participated in a trivia night where they were challenged with a variety of questions about our beautiful Gippsland Lakes and other general knowledge topics. A fantastic table prize was donated by local restaurant Alma’s in Paynesville, where a gift certificate was awarded to the winning table of $250.00.

The success of the Trivia night would not have been possible without the generous support of many local businesses that donated goods and services to be auctioned and raffled as prizes to guests on the night.

The GLCBC would also like to extend a special thanks to the Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club who provided the venue and facilities for the night.

In total, approximately $4600 was raised from a combination of door ticket sales, raffles and goods donated for auction by local business and members of the community. 100% of the proceeds of the trivia night will be donated to the committee of the PS Curlip to assist with the restoration process to this much-loved Paddle steamer.

The Committee of the GLCBC and the PS Curlip would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to the following businesses for their donations and ongoing support.

• Dennis McTaggart
• Private sponsors

The Paddle Steamer Curlip still requires much needed funding to complete her restoration and bring her back to life. Once she is back in the water, she will provide the Gippsland Lakes with a much needed tourism venture that will bring money to our district and generate jobs for our residents.

If you were unable to attend the community fundraiser it’s not too late to make a donation, please follow this link https://www.curlip.com.au/our-shop/donate

In closing, to everyone involved; thank you.
