Avonia was built by Ronstan of Highett, Victoria and launched in 1960.

Avonia spent her early life on Lake Eildon weir passing through several hands before relocation to the Gippsland Lakes where she again passed through several owners until being purchased by Tony and Jan Dodson in 2010 and then passed over to Simo Jaatinen in 2017.

Avonia spent most of 2010 in the Webster boat yard undergoing an extensive restoration. Originally fitted with a marinised Holden grey petrol motor, she is now powered by a 30hp Nanni Diesel; in addition Avonia has also received an extensive electrical modification and upgrade completed by Paynesville Marine Electrics.

Today she has been converted to a sturdy and safe cruiser perfectly suited for the Gippsland Lakes.

Considering selling AVONIA

- 09th July 2019

As some of the members may know I have been battling cancer now in some form or another for the past 18 months and am having a longer than expected stay in hospital right now. Just today, 9/07/2019 I had Paynesville Marine replace all three batteries and a faulty solenoid that was draining the old ones.
I have spent a good deal of money maintaining this distinguished lady in the condition that she is accustomed to and am not looking to make a fortune on her, but if you think you would be interested providing her the comfort she deserves please call me on 0418 961 873 and we can talk some details. B.T.W, I could still provide free birthing for her at least for the rest of the year.
Kind Regards
Simo Jaatinen

I have now owned this boat since the beginning of 2017 and I must say that the boat is every bit as good as Tony said it would be!
It just needs to be now slipped, cleaned up and anti-fouled plus have an oil change, but otherwise it has given lots of pleasure in the last few months.
